Service Approach
Atos Origin provides Global Managed MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) Services for MVNO’s and other alternative Communications Service Providers which help them to be successful and cost efficient. The MVNO Service is actually not limited to mobile services but suitable for all modern telecom service providers such as ISP, WiMAX, ADSL, VoIP, etc. It provides full functionality to support the entire business and enables simple and quick anticipation on the rapidly changing and very competitive telecom service market.
Basic services are grouped around the BSS (Business Support Services) and interface with the IT and network infrastructure of the host network. However, with MVNO’s searching for higher ARPU, next generation MVNO start offering Value Added Services. This may require additional applications and/or own network components (like IN, HLR, IVR, SMS-C, etc.) which can be provided through our various business units or preferred partners.
In addition to our MVNO Services, we can help startup companies with their market strategy, business case, planning and daily operations. We cover the entire chain from consulting, systems integration to managed operations provided from our carrier grade datacenters but can even provide Business Process Outsourcing. This, coupled with our extensive experience, skilled people, global reach, process knowledge, partners and technology, makes us an ideal choice as a partner in this field.
Subscription Based Services
MVNO’s have sparked the adoption of new business models and with the continuing emergence of alternative service providers in the market, business models en pricing models are changing as well. In an extremely competitive market with small margins, service providers can’t build upon traditional business models with high upfront investments. Because of this we offer flexible and low-entry business models which can be based on “pay as you grow” or other subscriber pricing schemes.

Supporting the Growth of the MVNO
Atos Origin supports MVNO´s by enabling them to be a supplier of mobile services and creating a successful and cost efficient service to their customers whether they are mobile, fixed, WiMAX or Internet providers such as ADSL and VoIP.
A Mobile Virtual Network Operator MVNO is a company with no spectrum or radio transport infrastructure and that leases network capacity and sells services under its own brand using its own assets such as content and distribution channels. Eight years ago the world’s first Mobile Virtual Network Operator, Virgin Mobile, was launched in the UK and since then MVNO has become a buzz word within the telecoms industry. Attracted by lower barriers to entry, potentially high returns on investment and strategic synergies, there has been a steady stream of new MVNO launch announcements.
MVNOs operated initially in the US and Western Europe, but nowadays you can find them in Asia, South America, Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East too. After several years of limited investment in the telecoms sector as a whole, MVNOs did managing to attract significant financial backing and an aggressive growth of MVNO’s took place in the period 2006- 2008. It is expected that the MVNO market will undergo the necessary changes due to the changing market conditions which will force some players to exit. Those with a good subscriber base or brand name will survive and new ones will arrive. It is expected that in the next few years between 15-20% of all mobile subscribers will be serviced by MVNO’s.
Based on brand, more and more MVNO’s (and in some cases MVNO’s owned by network operators) expanding across Europe to get a broader footprint. Examples are SIMYO, Tele2, Carrefour, etc.
For mobile operators to make it more attractive to sell services to MVNO;s, create a MVNE (Mobile Virtual Network Enabler) platform. This makes it rather easy for MVNO to start their business as it becomes ‘one stop shopping’. For MVNO’s it is a choice between easiness and lock-in or freedom and more complexity.
