Community Involvement
Glass globe

Atos Origin encourages its subsidiaries and team members to engage in community or charity work on their own. Many Group employees worldwide, through their individual commitment, bring Atos Origin's sustainable development approach to life.

For example, Atos Origin in Argentina has recently led an activity in a home for children at risk in Buenos Aires. The home is called "Hogar Madre Teresa de Calcutta" and it cares for children with disabilities and who are likely to become at risk. The aim was to improve the building and facilities and so create better opportunities for the children there. So some 70 employees from Atos Origin in Argentina and their families dedicated a weekend to help with the painting of the home.

In the Netherlands and in the United Kingdom, Atos Origin continues to support the charity Right to Play by setting up and running a key database. This links our role in providing IT services to the Olympic Games with supporting an internationally recognized NGO that is committed to improving the lives of children and their communities affected by conflict, poverty and disease by using the best values of sport into opportunities to promote development, health and peace. Right to Play evolved from the Olympic Aid program and was founded by four-time Olympic gold medallist, Johan Olav Koss.

Furthermore, Atos Origin’s employees in the Netherlands have supported its “Third World Fund” (Derde Wereld Fonds) for over 25 years.

In India, Atos Origin gave support in kind to a number of charities including the Cheshire Home for physically challenged people, the Unite Blind Uplift Charitable trust and a number of missionary charities such as Mother Theresa Ashram and the Paramanda Mission at Kolkata. Other support and events included an Environment day to spread awareness and contribute towards energy savings and a reduction in pollution, the donation of 749 school kits by employees to two charities and a Green Peace Awareness aimed at reducing people’s dependence on CO2.

In Scotland, employees raise funds and give their time working to support various charities including the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, Cancer Research and Maggies. Maureen Harrison, Chief Executive of the Sick Kids Friends Foundation, said: “Our staff is delighted with Atos Origin's charitable work. They have been a great help setting up and maintaining the Sunndach Respite Home Sensory garden. It’s really appreciated when businesses offer this sort of contribution, especially when it means donating precious time.

In Spain, Atos Origin participates in the project “Diviértete Programando” (“Enjoy Programming”) which involves teaching children of the schools of the province of León (Spain) to program via Kid’s Programming Language. It also assures sponsorship of the project for the adaptation of FIAPAS (Confederación Española de Familias de Personas Sordas – Deaf Families Spanish Confederation) with regard to legislation in terms of personal data protection.

In the USA, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Atos Origin has collaborated with more than 50 other employers, 56 high schools and four universities, to directly address the short-fall of information technology talent in the Cincinnati region. The INTERalliance of Greater Cincinnati is a standalone non-profit corporation. The programs designed and implemented by the INTERalliance have engaged more than 500 of the region's brightest young people – high school and college students - encouraging them to explore career pathways in information technology at local universities.

They are just some of the many Group employees worldwide who, through their individual commitment, bring Atos Origin's sustainable development approach to life.
